Financial Markets

The Financial Markets Department manages the Bank of Namibia’s official international reserves, oversees the implementation of monetary policy decisions, and carries out the agency function of issuer and manager of Government domestic debt securities.

The Department comprises Foreign Investments, Domestic Markets, and the Compliance and Risk Analytics. The Treasury Operations Division (of the Finance and Administration Department) provides support services to the Department.

The specific responsibilities of the Department are to:

Manage the investment of the official foreign exchange reserves, in line with the parameters set by the Bank of Namibia Act, 2020 (Act No. 1 of 2020) and Investment Policy.

Carry out the agency function as issuer and manager of Government domestic debt securities and provide advice on debt management.
