Strategic Communications and International Relations

The overall objective of the Department is to provide strategic communication and coordination services for internal and external stakeholders in support of the Bank’s operations, which include stakeholder engagement and issue management, international relations, information dissemination and management, and management of corporate social investment and responsibility activities. The Department coordinates and advocates the implementation of communication and international relations strategies.

As a responsible corporate citizen, the Bank of Namibia recognises its social obligations towards community development and is committed to broader sustainable social and economic development, the Department is responsible for coordinating the participation of the Bank in these activities.

The specfic responsibilities of the Department are to:

Ensure the consistent and timely communication of policies, guidelines, strategies, plans and activities of the Bank of Namibia.

Develop communication strategies and programmes on issues relevant to the Bank.

Coordinate and execute international relations activities and strategies.

Support the Bank’s strategic goals and reputation by creating a strong, unique and consistent image of the Bank for all stakeholders.

Support the Bank’s Governor and Management Committee in their communication activities.

Act as a service provider and consultant for all departments within the Bank (departmental directors and divisional heads) and coordinate the Bank’s communication activities.

Coordinate, execute and evaluate communication activities relating to events management, community investment, sponsorships, donations, corporate identity, stakeholder relationship management, and issues management.

Serve as the sole entry point for media and public queries to the Bank.

Provide records and information management services to the Bank and relevant stakeholders.

The Bank of Namibia’s Information Centre hosts a range of material in the fields of economics, finance, and monetary policy. The centre is open to the public from 08h00 to 16h00, Monday to Friday.
